Regency Centers is creating a new vision for Westwood Shopping Center.
The proposed redevelopment will transform the property, making it a more appealing destination for community residents to visit, shop, dine and serve the Bethesda community for generations to come. The proposed plans aims to preserve the very best of what Westwood has to offer — a convenient, connected location providing essential neighborhood services — while revitalizing it with something fresh, new and modern.
Redevelopment of Bethesda’s Westwood Shopping Center could begin later this year after the project secured Planning Board approval Thursday, capping three years of heated debate and opposition.
Regency Centers officially filed its Site Plan No. 820180190 and Preliminary Plan No. 12070170 with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in May. Following feedback from the community, Commission Staff and the Commission’s Development Review Committee, Regency Centers submitted its revised plans early last month.
The Commission anticipates a tentative Planning Board hearing on the applications in the fall of 2018.
